History Airbus H175/Eurocopter H175

The history Airbus H175/Eurocopter H175 began in 2005 when signing of the agreement between Eurocopter (nowadays Airbus Helicopters) and the Chinese concern AVIC II (China Aviation Industry Corporation II) was declared joint creation of the helicopter of a so-called “super-average” class with a take-off weight about 7 tons.

The project had to cost about €600 million. Works were conducted quickly enough and according to the schedule. Outline design was  in 2007. At the Heli-Expo 2008 Eurocopter air show received orders from 13 companies on 111 EC175 (so it was called to Eurocopter remarketing). On salon in the Chinese Dzhukhaye AVIC and his HAIG (Harbin Aviation Industrial Group) also concluded contracts on 5 Z-15. The market of sales was divided: HAIG sold in the People’s Republic of China and the nearby Asian countries, Eurocopter worked with the rest of the world.

In 2009 the prototype of Airbus H175/Eurocopter H175 made the first flight in airfield of the Eurocopter plant in Marinyan, France. In the course of tests there were difficulties with certification of the latest complex of avionics of Helinix that detained a helicopter conclusion to the market for 2 years. The certificate was received only in 2014. In 2015 certification of the helicopter with Turbomeca Ardiden 3C/WZ16 and Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6-67 engines began.

Mass production of the helicopter is arranged at the plant in Marinyan. The second production line is stood in the territory of the People’s Republic of China on one of HAIG objects. By agreement of the parties, the Avicopter joint venture will put on the market about 1000 H175 helicopters within 20 years.
