Helicopter history Ansat

By 1990 the park of easy helicopters became hopelessly outdated. Mi-2 operating at that time and Ka-26 were not issued long ago and already reached a limit of the expiration of a resource. Considering what to 80% of all helicopter transportations is carried out by cars of such class need for the new helicopter was critical.

Development of the helicopter was begun in 1994. By 1997 the full-size model presented aviation to experts and approved was ready. The same year the model was presented at an air show to Le Bourget where to it interest from potential customers was shown.

The helicopter was from the very beginning developed with application as vast experience of creation of rotary-wing aircrafts and with application of modern techniques of design on the Russian and international standards (AP-29 and FAR-29). It allowed to increase considerably overall performance at all stages: from design, before introduction in mass production.

The first flight протитип Ansata made in 1999. The helicopter was equipped with PW206C engines of the Canadian Pratt & Whitney.

Helicopter design Ansat

The helicopter has a classical design with the uniform four-blade screw and the steering screw in a tail beam. Power to installation it is presented two TVD PW206K. Their replacement by the Klimovsk VK-800V engines is in the long term supposed.

In the helicopter application of modern and traditional technical solutions, constructional materials and technologies is balanced. A cabin for two pilots glass, a control system — electroremote.

The helicopter has a spacious passenger-and-freight cabin which will be converted into various options of target application.

Operation of helicopters Ansat

The helicopter can be used for the solution of a wide range of tasks: cargo delivery, transportation of passengers, carrying out search and rescue operations, patrol, rendering the emergency medical care, administrative transportations, initial training. Modification of the helicopter of the increased comfort (VIP) is offered for the organization of transportation of the high-ranking passengers.

For the end of 2015 as a part of the Air Force of the Russian Federation there were 36 helicopters in modification of Ansat-U for carrying out educational flights of military pilots.

Also fighting version of the helicopter — Ansat-2RTs was presented at the MAKS-2005 exhibition.

Tekhnodinamika will develop engines for the Ansat helicopters and Ka-226

The Tekhnodinamika holding won a tender of Minpromtorg for development of a series of turboshaft TD-700 engines for easy helicopters, ATO.ru in the company told. It is supposed that new power plants will replace engines of production Pratt & Whitney and Turbomeca by the Russian Ansat helicopters and Ka-226. Further new development is planned to be certified and abroad.

Earlier in our country power plants for light rotary-wing aircrafts were not manufactured by any producer, explained ATO.ru in Tekhnodinamika. The enterprises of holding will use knowledge gained including when developing the auxiliary power plants (APP). “Today we have a ready base for fast introduction of this engine due to the accumulated experience of team of developers and the created cooperation in production and tests on the existing base of “Hydraulics” and the enterprises of UEC. Also the testing facilities of TsIAM of Baranov will be attracted” — the head of Tekhnodinamika Maxim Kuzyuk emphasized.

The project is implemented within the import substitution program and is calculated on four years. 12 engines, five of which involve in flight tests, will be during this time created. By the present moment of Tekhnodinamik agreed on the specification on developmental work on creation of engines and starts a stage of outline design.

New engines will be calculated on wider range of operational temperatures in comparison with foreign analogs, promise in Tekhnodinamika. It is expected that they will be 15% cheaper, than foreign units. To lower costs of development and development including use of the unified gas generator will allow. Kuzyuk noted that the price and expanded opportunities of application will become the main competitive advantage of the engine. Besides, use of new materials in the turbine will provide a possibility of speeding up that will allow to modify as fast as possible power plants under various requirements of customers.

The uniform hardware of two-channel system of automatic control created by Tekhnodinamikaya will be developed for family of engines. It will possess additional functions, such as the automatic machine of protection of the turbine, and also system of monitoring of a residual resource of units that will allow to cut operational costs.

According to ATO.ru, in our country in the civil purposes six Ka-226 helicopters are operated. Ansat which basic version was certified in 2013 until only received the first commercial customers. It should be noted that earlier the United Engine Corporation (UEC) declared development of VK-800V engines which have to approach including Ansatu and Ka-226.

Second medical Ansat in operation

The Russian Helicopter Systems (RHS) company shows at the HeliRussia 2017 exhibition the Ansat helicopter in medical execution. It is VS it was received within the contract concluded on Gidroaviasalone-2016. As told ATO Show Observer in RVS, the car arrived to the company at the beginning of 2017 and is already put into operation.

It is the first delivery of Ansat according to the leasing scheme. The car is taken in financial rent from the Sberbank Leasing company. The helicopter works at base in the Odintsovo district and is used for planned emergency transportation of patients across Moscow and area. Today besides RVS the Ansat helicopter for medical evacuation is operated by Republican clinical hospital of Tatarstan.

Ansat with the medical module was shown on HeliRussia in 2014. In “Helicopters of Russia” hope that this VS type will take the important place in development of ambulance aircraft. It was at the end of last year reported about work of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Transport and Minpromtorg on the financial scheme of introduction of this helicopter for medical aircraft on all Russia. Besides, in January the government resolution on allocation of subsidies for development of ambulance aircraft in 34 Russian regions was signed. According to experts, the project first of all is focused on Ansat.

In leasing within the resolution the State Transport Leasing Company (STLC) will be engaged in granting helicopters. The enterprise already bought six Ansatov in a medical complete set. It is also known that regions make the choice for operation in the medical purposes and the Mi-8 helicopters (GTLK issued the order for 23 such cars).

At the Ansat helicopter increased loading capacity

The Helicopters of Russia holding reported about receiving approval of the main change on increase in the maximum take-off mass of the easy multi-purpose Ansat helicopter from 3300 to 3600 kg. It allows to raise a pay load of the helicopter on 300 kg.

“We initially projected the take-off mass of Ansat under 3300 kg. During improvement of the helicopter the weight of empty Ansat increased, and, respectively, there was a need for increase in useful loading” — ATO.ru on KVZ told. Thus, after the corresponding tests it was proved that this helicopter “weighing 3600 kg is capable to fly up”. At the same time no basic changes were made.

On KVZ also emphasized that it is normal practice and for many projects of helicopters, including foreign, entered similar changes. Besides, the interlocutor of ATO.ru told that in contracts which were concluded on the passenger Ansat version, the maximum take-off weight was specified at the level of 3600 kg.

The holding hopes that change will allow the helicopter to become more competitive in this connection the producer counts on obtaining new orders from outside not only the Russian, but also foreign clients.

Today also works on increases in the maximum flying range of Ansat are continued (now it makes, by data from the website of “Helicopters of Russia”, 510 km). It is expected that the task will be carried out in 2017 due to modernization of fuel system and installation of the additional fuel tanks of the bigger size. In addition at Ansat will raise resource indicators of units.

In 2013 Ansat with a hydromechanical control system certified for freight transportation, in December, 2014 — for passenger. In May, 2015 certification there underwent modification with the medical module. Within the MAKS-2015 air show the Russian aviaauthorities allowed installation of system of improvement of stability on the passenger version of the helicopter, and in December of last year the version with VIP-salon was certified.

As it was reported earlier, further on Ansat it is planned to install engines of the Russian production in which development Tekhnodinamika is engaged. Now as the power plant for this type the American Pratt & Whitney PW207K motor is used.

Characteristics of the Ansat helicopter will improve at the expense of new blades

Characteristics of the easy multi-purpose Ansat helicopter will improve due to installation of new blades of the bearing screw. It is expected that at the rotary-wing aircraft range and speed of flight, and also loading capacity will increase. Besides, replacement of blades has to reduce fuel consumption and reduce vibration level, told in Helicopters of Russia holding.

New blades plan to make with use of technology with single-step formation (with use of composite materials). Together with Ansata producer — the Kazan Helicopter Plant (KHP) developed it innovative VR-Tekhnologii design office (both enterprises are included into “Helicopters of Russia”).

 

“The feather of the serial blade of the bearing screw consists of two components: a longeron and tail section which are made separately and after that their assembly on a building berth is made. New development is executed with use of technology of bezlonzheronny configuration which assumes production of a feather of the blade for one transition in a compression mold; in the same place there is an assembly of preparation of a feather of the blade” — explained in holding.

The new technology will allow to accelerate production of blades on a third, to prolong their resource and quality, and also to reduce production costs.

“This year we developed technical documentation to the project. Now work on creation of prototypes and preparation for tests after which mass production will begin is conducted” — the CEO of the VR-Tekhnologii enterprise Alexander Okhonko declared.

Experimental part of works will be carried out at KVZ capacities. The first stage of bench and flight tests is planned for the period from June to November, 2017. Until the end of the next year flight tests during which it is necessary to estimate technical characteristics of new blades will come to the end. Mass production of blades is planned to be organized within the next two years.

In Helicopters of Russia holding also other works on improvement of characteristics of Ansat are conducted. So, earlier it became known of increase in loading capacity of the aircraft and, as a result, increase in a pay load by 300 kg. In 2017 it is necessary to increase the maximum flying range of the car. Also there is a work on increase in resource indicators of units.

The Russian Helicopter Systems company will become the first civil operator of Ansat, as expected. As reported to ATO.ru earlier, it plans to accept the car equipped with the medical module, until the end of the year.

The passenger Ansat helicopter received system of improvement of stability

The passenger version of the easy multi-purpose Ansat helicopter will be equipped with system of improvement of stability. The corresponding approval on its installation from the Aviation register of the Interstate Aviation Committee (ARE of IAC) was got within the MAKS-2015 air show, told in Helicopters of Russia holding. It has to increase comfort of piloting on all modes of flight — from take-off to landing — due to stabilization of angular movements of the helicopter which “demand considerable expenses of efforts and derivation from performance of the main functions” the pilot.

 

According to the CEO of Kazan Helicopter Plant (the producer of the car) Vadim Ligaya, the aircraft with a hydromechanical control system is waited by further modernization. In particular, at Ansat it is planned to improve fuel system, and also to modernize a nasal part and doors. Besides, works on increase in resource indicators are now conducted.

On August 27 on an aviaelephant of MAKS-2015 there took place the meeting at which proposals of operators on improvement of characteristics of the helicopter were discussed. Following the results it was decided to install the fuel system containing about 750 kg of fuel, and the additional fuel tanks in which it is possible to fill in up to 200 kg of fuel. Besides, Ansat is planned to equip with additional systems of lighting, ventilation, warm and sound insulation, conditioning and heating.

The first orders for the passenger version were received at the 7th helicopter HeliRussia2015 exhibition. The beginning of deliveries of the car is planned for 2016. The basic version of the Ansat helicopter equipped with a hydromechanical control system was certified in 2013. Addition to the certificate of type on the passenger version was received in December, 2014.

The passenger version of the Ansat helicopter is certified

The Helicopters of Russia holding reported about receiving addition to the certificate of type of the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) on the passenger version of the easy multi-purpose Ansat helicopter of development and production of Kazan Helicopter Plant. As reported in the company, the first deliveries are planned for the next year, however the holding does not disclose details concerning a stock of orders and starting clients. Earlier the CEO of “Helicopters of Russia” Alexander Mikheyev declared that mass production of the car will be started in 2015.

The basic certificate of type allowing to carry out the commercial operation of the helicopter which is not connected with transportations of passengers was received in August, 2013. The passenger version differs in the take-off weight increased to 3600 kg, the modernized system of improvement of stability and the equipment of salon.

The two-engine seven-seater helicopter is equipped with the 630 hp turboshaft Pratt & Whitney Canada PW 207K engines with an electronic and digital control system of the engine (FADEC). Cruiser speed of the helicopter — 220 km/h, maximum — 275 km/h.

The version of the helicopter certified by IAC is equipped with a hydromechanical control system. Let’s remind that initially (since 1997) Ansat was created with an electro-remote control system (EDSU). This version of the helicopter underwent state tests, now the educational and training Ansat-U version is used in the Air Force of Russia for training of cadets. However because of absence in world practice of standards of certification of civil helicopters with an electro-remote control system certification of passenger Ansat with such system was represented impossible, and the developer made the decision on replacement of EDSU by traditional hydromechanical system for simplification of a conclusion of the car to the market.

Now the world helicopter companies actively master technologies of an electroremote control system. In particular, Bell Helicopter positions the new Bell-525 model as “the first commercial helicopter with EDSU”.
